Ukrainian Civil War - 2022.

Ukrainian Civil War, a New Cold War, which has Heated up. 

Western propaganda, including print and electronic media is busy blaming Russia for this Ukraine border tension without telling that it is the US and NATO utmost desire to reach the Russian border in Europe. It is the West which offered rose garden to the Ukraine public and a few of their unknown leaders, post 1991 breakup, were paid to break out of Russia. This was an unwelcome strategic move for NATO and US. That was a cue for Russia to exert itself. The key question is …… Why does US/NATO have gotten close to the Russian border. That is how peace is disturbed.

With Putin’s arrival and Yeltsin & Gorbachev both dead and buried, and NATO offering membership to all Russian satellite states in Eastern Europe, trouble was not far. In fact it was near. US was busy fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, it offered Putin/Russia a chance to grab Crimea back from the Ukraine, which in-fact it had transferred to Ukrainian administrative control only 70 years earlier. The border areas of areas of Ukraine next to Russia are all Russian speaking hence they wished to stay with Russia instead uncertain propaganda from the West, hence these were instigated to revolt. Trouble started…….

This is a typical civil war situation. Repeatedly the Ukrainians appointed pro-west leaders to run the country, which inflamed the Russians. The Ukrainians forget that it was the sacrifice of Russian soldiers during the WW2 that Ukraine was freed from the murderous Nazi yoke. How could the Ukrainians ever forget those sacrifices.

Moreover Ukrainians, people are Orthodox Christians following the directions of a different Pope, same as the Russian people, hence Ukrainians and Russians have a lot in common than the West.

Hence, these battles are to be cooled off. The NATO has to go back to their homes and turn off the propaganda. The Russians have to withdraw their troops and let Russian speaking people in Ukrainian border simmer down and stay wherever they are.

Believe it or not we are in the same situation as the WW2 before Japanese struck at Pearl Harbour, leading into US entry into the World War. The question has to be asked as to why Japanese did strike at the Pearl Harbour. US war propaganda never answers that. At the behest of loosing British who were forced out of South East Asia, including Singapore, they asked America to cut off the Japanese oil supplies. The US obliged and irritated the hell out of Japan. It was an act of war by the US. Now the Japs wished to remove the threat to themselves before they capture Philippines, Borneo and other places where they could get oil and other resources. Hence, they struck at Pearl Harbour and sank the US naval fleet.

A parallel exists in Eastern Europe today. US wishes to get as close to the Russian border and Ukraine seems to be right place to do it. That US step has irritated the Russian and they wish to remove that threat permanently. Half the threat they have already taken care off, a decade back with the capture of Russian Crimean peninsula and the other half they are working on now to grab border area to create a no man’s land.

A solution for this …… have a neutral government in Ukraine, which neither permits US influence nor Russian influence.

US is partly trying to regain its lost prestige during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan last year. They were searching for an issue to deal with so that they re-establish their lost prestige. Biden Administration thought that the threatened invasion of Taiwan by China would give them an issue, but it was only intimidation not a reality. That virtual conversation of Biden with Xi of China just cooled off Chinese enthusiasm. The invasion never sort of materialized.

Putin of Russia thought to gain something out of the weakened US presidency. He initiated military buildup to threaten Ukraine to ask them to cease and desist from joining NATO. That was his just demand. Nobody wants two superpowers yards away from each other. Ukraine is good as a buffer state. That was not to be. Putin brought in 100,000 of his soldiers to stare Ukraine down. US was waiting for this opportunity to stare Russia down. Rest of Western Europe was in no position to face Russia but US was. The diplomatic and media shouting match began between US and Russia. Interestingly, other major powers (non NATO) like China and India have been keeping quite.

For 100,000 soldiers, which Putin has piled up; US is sending a token force of 8,500 soldiers. Other naval forces even during peace time are playing a cat and mouse game in the North Atlantic. Hence, they are not directly involved in Europe buildup. Then what is the net outcome would be?

Russia will never allow NATO in the vicinity. US knows that hence would keep the noise diplomatic and media war on. It is quite possible that the Biden/US may regain some of its lost prestige after Afghanistan withdrawal. Worst sufferer will be Ukraine caught in between the two powers. The two powers would not allow any just solution. Hence the moral is to not to be tempted by the US offer of goodies in case you switch sides. US had made that offer several times to Ukraine in the past dozen years. Neutrality would be a solution with a present pro West leadership in Ukraine dumped in favor of a middle of the road leader…….. Cheers
